Thompson Electric, Inc has two primary business divisions.
Our outside division installs and maintains substations, builds and rebuilds overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines, installs and maintains highway lighting and traffic controls. With highly skilled and trained crews equipped with the tools, trucks, and equipment needed we are able to meet and exceed our customers' needs.
Our Inside Divisions install and maintain all of the electrical systems within your facilities, as well as many specialty systems required by building departments and codes. With a large fleet of fully stocked service vehicles, we are able provide emergency service work and well managed projects minimizing down time, saving our customers time and money. No job is too small or too large for these Divisions.
All of our electricians and linemen receive four to five years of training from the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC). This highly skilled training program is approved by the Federal Department of Labor (DOL) and surpasses any other construction training program in the world.
Thompson Electric, Inc. is signatory with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and is also a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).

Thompson Electric, Inc. is a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). The IBEW represents approximately 725,000 members who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. The IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada and stands out among the American unions in the AFL-CIO because it is among the largest and has members in so many skilled occupations.
The National Electrical Contractor's Association
Thompson Electric, Inc. is a member of The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). NECA has provided over a century of service to the $130 billion electrical construction industry that brings power, light, and communication technology to buildings and communities across the United States. NECA's national and 119 local chapters advance the industry through advocacy, education, research and standards development.
National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee
All Thompson Electric, Inc. apprentices are trained by the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC). The finest electrical workers in the country receive their training through this department of labor (DOL) registered program. It is a model education partnership between IBEW and NECA that produces the best trained, most up-to-date electrical workers in the country. The NJATC is privately funded and spends approximately $100 million dollars annually on training.
